Smartfood Giveaway

THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED.
This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Smartfood.

I've been struggling with my weight for a long time. As you know, I'm trying to do something about that and one of the main things I'm doing is changing what I put in my mouth. I'm guilty of reaching for the wrong snacks in my pantry and fridge because they're convenient.

When I'm chasing two toddler's around the house it is a lot easier to reach for a bag of chips, a cookie or a candy bar than it is to chop up some veggies or cut up a piece of fruit. I don't even eat Pop Tarts anymore because they take too long to heat up!

Then I discovered Smartfood Popcorn Clusters! They come in 1 oz servings and their stats are awesome. My favorite is the Honey Multigrain and it only has 110 calories and 1 gram of fat. They all have 5 grams of fiber and we all need more fiber to keep things moving right along. It's like a grown up version of carmel corn from when we were kids. And speaking of the kids...I wouldn't feel bad letting them have a bag because there aren't any preservatives.

My husband's favorite is the Cranberry Almond. This choice has 120 calories and 2 grams of fat...still really good compared to the snacks I normally put in his lunch pail. He liked the tang of the cranberry against the sweetness of the coating. Another bonus, only 75 mg of sodium which is great because he has high blood pressure and we try to keep that to a minimum.

Now....if you are looking for a sweet treat and you don't want to waste your calories on a couple of cookies (and I know I can't just eat a couple), you are going to love the Chocolate Cookie Carmel Pecan. Also coming in at 120 calories and 2 grams of fat, this is the perfect dessert snack that won't ruin your diet.

I went through my pantry and looked at the stats of some of our favorite snacks, both salty and sweet and I was appalled. The amount of fat and sodium in some of them was shocking and made me realize that I could be making much better choices. Smartfood is the snack for women who want to indulge without feeling guilty. These would have been so great when I was employed and had to scavenge to find something healthy from the vending machines. I already feel Smarter...knowing that I'm eating a healthy snack. I can't wait to throw a couple of these in the diaper bag so that I have something to snack on when I'm tempted to run through the McDonald's drive thru.

The folks from Smartfood want to give one of my lucky readers a $100 Visa Gift Card!

Ya know, I haven't had a girls' night in FOREVER!
My friend and I used to get movies, funny ones and eat popcorn and gossip! Come to think of it, that sounds pretty good, right now! It's been at least 4 years since I've done that!

ooooh! (I went right over the button... duh.)

Girls' Night In is when I host bunco at my house. At all other buncos, it seems we're over and done around 10:00. Mine goes until 1:00 or so...

Btw-I love the chocolate pecan, but I eat 2 bags because it's so good... probably defeating the low-cal purpose.

Girls night is best with a chick flick, freshly popped popcorn (not microwaved), a comfy couch, a friend or 2 and a diet coke. A side of chocolate always adds a nice touch ;0)

Very cool review and fabulous giveaway! I didn't know you did these reviews!!!

Let's see...girl's night in with my friends would involve maragaritas, lots of different dips (we all love dips!), chick flicks, and non-stop talking! Before we have too many margaritas it would probably involve some crafting of some sort. Oh! And Chocolate!!! :-)

Hi Connie! I had a fabulous Girls Night In on Friday night with one of my oldest and dearest friends. We invented a spectacular martini to celebrate the evening and had silly reality shows playing in the background while we talked late into the night. The latter part of the night was spent reminiscing with our favorite early 90's tunes on our I-Pods! I wish she could come in town more often!

I know this sounds sad but I don't know any girls to have a girls night in with. I have some friends here and there but we mainly chat on fb or by email. Woe is me!

If if did have a girl night in, I would have a pitcher of Margaritas and play games or something maybe. :0)

These are yummy! I had two boxes of them and apparently the nanny likes it too!!

I would be sure to have margaritas and chips with salsa... be nice to have some right now actually!

We celebrate girls' night in with games, snacks, and generally just let things happen as they will (there's usually very little advance planning). But sometimes we'll get together to bake, which is an adventure with a crowd in the kitchen, and even more so when we have to make enough for everyone!
I confess, though... a lot of my "girls' nights" consist of the "girls" from my neighborhood coming over for a visit - a crowd between the ages of 11 and 19!

We celebrate with a whole girls weekend away in the mountains! We "say" that we're going to scrapbook nonstop for 4 days, but in reality, we talk, eat, scrapbook, snack, go to the beach, get pedicures, (no manicures, those would give away that we didn't spend ALL our waking time scrapping!), hike, sit in the sun, and enjoy each other's company. We often end up praying for one or another of our group who is down or ill, and end up having a wonderful, very fulfilling weekend of girlfriendship. :) It doesn't get any better!

Thanks for the chance to win!

Ahhhh to have a girls night in would be a refreshing change from all the boys in my house! It has been a looooooong time so I will tell you what I would do when I plan a Girl's night in!

I made up a delish drink called the Midnight Eye Opener which involves vanilla soy milk, iced coffee and kahlua - perfect for an all nighter!

Chick Flicks are mandatory - Anything by John Hughes works for me!

I'd do a theme party like 80's attire and hair and play 80's trivia for fun girly prizes!

We'd probably break out the Wii and play drunken Mario Kart or something, lol

The ideas are really endless!

Sometimes when I'm all alone and have a night to be alone, which is what I consider a girls night in, I spend the evening in the bathroom doing various facials and masques and using beauty products that I bought but never used.

It's a great time to try that avacado/olive oil face mask without scaring anyone.

Girls night in was always and is always a bottle of local wine, chips & salsa, veggies and usually something involving lots of chocolate and calories. Oh and gossip - Lots and lots of shameful gossip. =)

And, I just tweeted about it!

I have to admit it has been a long time since I have had a girls night in. But my favorite was getting together with the girls and making martini's, chocolate chip cookies and watching episodes of Sex In the City. Those were the days:)
